A 30 mile walk from Ware, Hertfordshire, to Tower Bridge, London
In aid of the Essex Deaf Children's Society

BIG RIVER WALK 2008 IS CANCELLED

It is with regret that I have to announce that James Legon, Founder, Managing Director, all round Main-Man of ParishRegister.com, and organiser of Big River Walk has suffered a heart attack and is currently busy making his recovery.

You can see updates on how James is doing by visiting www.parishregister.com, and of course you are still more than welcome to make donations to Essex Deaf Children's Society.

We hope to run Big River Walk next year, so please watch this space!

Why?

At Docklands Ancestors we believe it’s important that if we’re in business as a company, we should act as a responsible company. This means doing our bit, however small, for the environment, our local community and good causes. In the past we have donated to some of the churches whose records we’ve transcribed, to the Help for Heroes campaign and we discount our products to family history societies. This year, as we’ve grown our business into a widely known and respected company in the family history market , we felt it was important to do a bit more. A whole lot more in fact! Hence, our epic challenge, Big River Walk.

The decision to select the Essex Deaf Children’s Society as our partner was an easy one to take. James Legon, managing director, comments:

"as the parent of a child with a hearing loss myself, I am all too aware of the problems a young child goes through when diagnosed with a hearing loss. One of the most distressing aspects of this is seeing the isolation that a deaf child feels. I have nothing but respect and gratitude to the doctors, teachers and support staff who have helped our daughter over the years".

We hope you’ll join us in our challenge, whether as a walker, marshall, sponsor or donator, and help us to put smiles on these children’s faces.

When?

Big River Walk will take place on Saturday 6th September 2008.

Where is the Big River Walk?Where?
This epic walk sets off from Ware Station in the leafy Hertfordshire countryside, along the river Lea towpath. We quickly enter the idyllic Lee Valley Park and pass through Broxbourne, Nazeing, down to the Walthamstow Marshes and the King George Reservoirs.
